RPM Requests
Use this page to post a request for a package that you would like to see in the RPM Fusion repository. If a package can be included in Fedora, please submit the request to the Fedora Wishlist or to the Fedora Games SIG Wishlist.

/!\ If you cannot say why a package cannot go in Fedora probably you shouldn't submit your request here but in one of the aforementioned wishlists.

There is no guarantee that the package will be built, but it serves as a basis for maintainers looking for ideas on what to package next. Alternatively, please consider joining RPM Fusion and maintaining the package yourself.
Package Requests
Use this page to post a request for a packages that can't go to Fedora but would be nice to have in the RPM Fusion repository. For update requests or package enhancements use bugzilla please.

/!\ Important Note: Package request that don't give a good reason why the package cannot go to Fedora will get removed from this list immediately without further notice; if you are unsure if a package is suitable for Fedora then submit it to Fedora Wishlist; alternatively ask Fedora or RPM Fusion contributors for advice!

Note, there is no guarantee that package will be built, but it serves as a basis for maintainers looking for ideas on what to package next. But that doesn't happen very often, as you can guess from the length of this list. The best way to get a package into RPM Fusion quickly is to join RPM Fusion and maintaining the package yourself.

Notes: Although only available for Ubuntu 8.10, they also work for Fedora. Confirmed for HP 2133, see http://hp2133.umsw.de, section 11b. Issues with SELinux, also with OpenGL and RandR (both only when using compiz). 2D driver works better with RandR but is known to cause system freezes. Options/switches for xorg.conf not well documented. 3D driver needs VIA Chrome9 drm module, 2D may run without it, thus poor performance playing videos etc.

Please edit this page to add a new request ensuring the layout is maintained. For example:

 Request: foo
Summary: A program that does all sorts of foo
 URL: http://www.example.com
Why not in Fedora: Explanation why this package is not eligible as a regular package in the Fedora repositories; packages request without a proper explanation will get removed from this list immediately!
Notes: Optional notes section which may be useful for potential packagers

Requests will be removed where an RPM already exists in Fedora or RPM Fusion itself.

Current Requests

Place your current requests here, in alphabetical order.

 Request: aacgain
Summary: AACGain is a modification to the excellent mp3gain program. It supports AAC (mp4/m4a/QuickTime) audio files.

Notes: Should be a straight-forward addition

 Request: acx100/acx111

These packages are: cairo, freetype, fontconfig, libXft (and maybe pixman, this should be checked). Source packages already exist with patches supporting these features for all the above packages at: ftp://brebs.me.uk/fedora/10/. URL: http://www.chromium.org/Home
Why not in Fedora: due to legal concerns with some of the included code
Notes: Google does provide a stable Chrome for Linux, but Chromium doesn't have the unique tracking ID that Google uses to identify users by, and Chromium doesn't send what you type in the omni box bar to Google, which Chrome does. That's why Chromium is to be prefured over Chrome.

 Request: cinelerra
Summary: One of the best video edition tools around
 URL: http://cinelerra.org/

 Request: dahdi-linux
Summary: Digium Asterisk Hardware Device Interface (DAHDI) linux kernel modules, firmware and documentation
Why not in Fedora: While Fedora does package dahdi-tools, dahdi-linux contains kernel modules (and firmware)
that are not part of the main kernel tree, and are not included in Fedora. Note that there is no need to package
dahdi-tools as this would be redundant. A spec file that I use currently is here:

 URL: http://sourceforge.net/projects/easymp3gain
Why not in Fedora: mp3Gain isn't in Fedora either, so it's only natural that a GUI for it wouldn't be either.
Notes: The project page has an RPM that already installs nicely into F10 and Rawhide. It would also be helpful to include aacGain in RPMFusion for completion.

 Request: FASTA
Summary: The FASTA programs find regions of local or global (new) similarity between Protein or DNA sequences
 URL: http://fasta.bioch.virginia.edu/fasta_www2/fasta_down.shtml

These packages are: cairo, freetype, fontconfig, libXft (and maybe pixman, this should be checked). Request: smplayer-themes
Summary: This package provides icon themes for SMPlayer.
 URL: http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/downloads.php?tr_lang=en
Why not in Fedora: requires packages only available in rpmfusion, is very cool and easy to build and packing
Notes: I got a .spec, here http://sergiomb.no-ip.org/specs/smplayer-themes.spec, which builds smplayer-themes-0.1.19.tar.bz2 into rpms.
Answer: There are many mixed licenses in the "free" package, eg. GPL, LGPL, Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike license, Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License. Someone with proper understanding of mixing licenses needs to look deeper into this (SebastianVahl - smplayer maintainer).

Request: VIA Chrome9/UniChrome proprietary 3D Xorg driver.
Summary: provide Xorg 3D driver for VIA Chrome9/UniChrome
URL: http://linux.via.com.tw/support/downloadFiles.action, choose CN896, Ubuntu 8.10, link: Unified GFX driver Ver 85a-44597
Why not in Fedora: restricted driver
Notes: Although only available for Ubuntu 8.10, they also work for Fedora. Confirmed for HP 2133, see http://hp2133.umsw.de, section 11b. Issues with SELinux, also with OpenGL and RandR (both only when using compiz). 2D driver works better with RandR but is known to cause system freezes. Options/switches for xorg.conf not well documented. 3D driver needs VIA Chrome9 drm module, 2D may run without it, thus poor performance playing videos etc.

Why not in RPM Fusion: The short story is: It was agreed on not to ship it due to various reasons around the fact that libdvdcss is a bit more complicated (or dangerous) than all the other software RPM Fusion offers have. The long story and all the arguments for and against shipping it can be found in the mailing lists archives.

Livna and Freshrpms will provide libdvdcss for the forseeable future.

 Request: ipset
Summary: A pgm to set the list of ip ranges used in iptables/ipmodules
 URL: http://ipset.netfilter.org/
Why not in RPM Fusion: This really should go with where ever iptables and ip_modules are packaged. IP set's are created and used as a filter in the iptable/firewall system. in 2006 there was a request to include the patches to make this work. The issue was deferred/closed because it was claimed to have too many patches(?). I was, and continue to use ipset within the iptables framework since FC4.
