InviteThirdPartyRepo

Intro

RPM Fusion was started as the merger of Dribble, Freshrpms and Livna repositories. Original maintainers joined by some Fedora contributors take part in the project.

Our goal is to simplify end-user experience by grouping as much add-on software as possible in a single add-on repository for Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. For more details, please read our FoundingPrinciples page in the wiki.

Our repositories already contain multimedia applications, kernel drivers, games, emulators and other software the Fedora Project cannot ship for various reasons.

Join us

We know you are a maintainer or an owner of a 3rd party repository. We appreciate your work and we would really like to have you on our ship!

This is an invitation to join us.

Why joining?

You will have many benefits in joining.

RPM Fusion is a well established brand. Our repositories are very often mentioned as the place where to find software not distributable in Fedora. This will give your packages a better visibility.

Your packages will be peer reviewed by fellow maintainers using exactly the same guidelines Fedora uses. You won't have to learn a new set of guidelines and the quality of your packages should be improved by this process.

You will manage package updates through our CVS repository. We use almost the same setup Fedora uses, therefore you won't have to learn a new set of commands.

You will have access to our build system. This means that your packages will be built for all current Fedora versions (including the development branch rawhide) and all supported architectures (i386, x86_64, ppc and ppc64). RHEL5 support is limited to i386 and x86_64.

You packages will be distributed by lots of regularly updated mirrors. This will lead to faster user installs and updates.

If you wish, you could become an extra mirror, using your existing resources (web host, bandwidth).

If you have trouble in packaging, other fellow maintainers can assist you in case of need through our mailing list or our IRC channel.
