Package Requests
Use this page to post a request for a packages that can't go to Fedora but would be nice to have in the RPM Fusion repository. For update requests or package enhancements use bugzilla please.
Important Note: Package request that don't give a good reason why the package cannot go to Fedora will get removed from this list immediately without further notice; if you are unsure if a package is suitable for Fedora then submit it to Fedora Wishlist; alternatively ask Fedora or RPM Fusion contributors for advice!
Note, there is no guarantee that package will be built, but it serves as a basis for maintainers looking for ideas on what to package next. But that doesn't happen very often, as you can guess from the length of this list. The best way to get a package into RPM Fusion quickly is to join RPM Fusion and maintaining the package yourself.
Please edit this page to add a new request ensuring the layout is maintained. For example:
Request: foo Summary: A program that does all sorts of foo URL: http://www.example.com Why not in Fedora: Explanation why this package is not eligible as a regular package in the Fedora repositories; packages request without a proper explanation will get removed from this list immediately! Notes: Optional notes section which may be useful for potential packagers
Requests will be removed where an RPM already exists in Fedora or RPM Fusion itself.
Current Requests
Place your current requests here, in alphabetical order.
Request: aacgain Summary: AACGain is a modification to the excellent mp3gain program. It supports AAC (mp4/m4a/QuickTime) audio files. These packages are: cairo, freetype, fontconfig, libXft (and maybe pixman, this should be checked). It uses a custom build system, bundled with the tarball.
Request: Chromium Summary: Open source version of Google's Chrome web browser URL: http://www.chromium.org/Home Why not in Fedora: due to legal concerns with some of the included code. This might not be an issue anymore. A person from FedoraProject packages Chromium in his spre time. http://spot.fedorapeople.org/chromium/ Notes: Google does provide a stable Chrome for Linux, but Chromium doesn't have the unique tracking ID that Google uses to identify users by, and Chromium doesn't send what you type in the omni box bar to Google, which Chrome does. That's why Chromium is to be prefured over Chrome.
Request: cinelerra Summary: One of the best video edition tools around URL: http://cinelerra.org/ Why not in Fedora: Well, this package uses a lot of codecs available in livna/rpmfusion, so, that's why. Notes: Review Request at https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118

Request: Dolphin Emulator Summary: A Nintendo Gamecube and Wii Emulator with wiimote support and high compatibility with commercial games Why not in Fedora: As an emulator there are legal problems putting this package in fedora repos URL: http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/ Notes: The source builds nicely under Ubuntu so should also do so under Fedora, but seems to cause all sorts of headaches for users unable to optimise the makefile
Request: dahdi-linux Summary: Digium Asterisk Hardware Device Interface (DAHDI) linux kernel modules, firmware and documentation Why not in Fedora: While Fedora does package dahdi-tools, dahdi-linux contains kernel modules (and firmware) that are not part of the main kernel tree, and are not included in Fedora. Note that there is no need to package dahdi-tools as this would be redundant. A spec file that I use currently is here: https://messinet.com/svn/rpms/dahdi-linux/trunk/dahdi-linux.spec

Furthermore, it is stroked through on http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackageMaintainers/WishList Rahul Sundaram guessed it could have been licensing issues in the past (cmp. http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=221294&page=12)
Request: FreeMat Summary: FreeMat is an application for scientific prototyping similar to Matlab and IDL. URL: http://freemat.sourceforge.net/ Why not in Fedora: Not sure, but it is stroked through on http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackageMaintainers/WishList Rahul Sundaram guessed it could have been licensing issues in the past (cmp. http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=221294&page=12)
Request: fontconfig (with updated configuration to make use of available cleartype rendering and bytecode interpreter features) Summary: Font configuration and customization library URL: http://fontconfig.org Why not in Fedora: Because the default packages do not provide these features. Notes: this package should be part of a logical group of other patched packages supporting better subpixel rendering in Fedora, to bring up the font rendering to the level of Ubuntu, Windows XP/Vista and MacOS/X. These packages are: cairo, freetype, fontconfig, libXft (and maybe pixman, this should be checked). URL: http://code.google.com/p/get-flash-videos/ Why not in Fedora: Likely because it downloads videos in closed source formats like h.264
Request: gloss Summary: a drop-in replacement for the existing MythTV frontend URL: http://www.ohloh.net/p/gloss-mc Why not in Fedora: needs mythtv which is in rpmfusion
Request: GnomeBoyAdvance Summary: Gnomeboyadvance is a GNOME frontend for the Visual Boy Advance emulator URL: http://developer.berlios.de/projects/gnomeboyadvance/ Why not in Fedora: Emulators are not permitted in Fedora

URL: http://handbrake.fr/ Why not in Fedora: Contains implementations of encoders and decoders for patented algorithms (e.g. MP3). Notes: This comes in both a CLI and GUI version, which would both be useful. Also, it requires libdvdcss to read DVDs directly. The default makefile downloads all it's own copies of all the multimedia libs, the challenging part here to get it to use the existing rpmfusion libraries as dependencies instead.

URL: http://www.opalvoip.org/ Why not in Fedora: It is available in fedora but with disabled support for x264 and ffmpeg, thus lacking H.264 and all other MPEG-based video conferencing abilities. This results in ekiga being very limited with the codecs offered for use to the end-user. Notes: I've got self-modified .spec file for opal-3.6.8-1 based on the one from Fedora 12 and expected to be built against older version of x264 that was available as a package from ATrpms. There were reported problems with opal linking against latest versions of x264, but now (as of 2011/07/05) it seems that there are patches available at ekiga's bugzilla (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=596006#c24) that solve the case. ATM I'm in process of patching opal spec file using SRPMS from Fedora 15 as a base, and intend to use x264-devel package from RPMFusion as a dependency.
